In the weekend of September 2nd-3rd 2017 Local animal rescue, Big Fluffy Dog Rescue takes in more than 40 dogs from Louisiana shelters. These dogs were sent to Middle Tennessee from Louisiana shelters to make room for dogs affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Big Fluffy Dog is a 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to taking dogs from poor living situations, high kill shelters, and surrenders.

As a rescue organization of animals, Big Fluffy Dog helps find homes for all kinds of dogs, but they specialize in large fluffy breeds, hence the name Big Fluffy Dog.

Their mission statement is “our goal for every dog we have is the same: a safe, happy home where each dog is a well-loved member of the family.”

Volunteers with the rescue report there is still more work to be done as shelters in affected areas still need to provide shelter for lost animals until they are reunited with their families.

The number of animals taken from those areas affected by Hurricane Harvey is increasing rapidly, so shelters all over the U.S need as much help as they can possibly get. To help you can donate, volunteer, or apply to become a foster. The more foster homes available the more dogs they can take in.
