On March 29th, 2023, Hillsboro High School hosted our annual Arts Showcase. This marks the second time the showcase has included visual arts such as painting and sculptures and other arts such as theatre and music. The event was held in the school’s arts wing and had a huge turnout, with over 200 people coming in to see the performances and pieces of art created by our students here at Hillsboro who have worked hard to complete.
Sarah Hyatt, one of Hillsboro’s two art teachers commented that she thought the showcase’s turnout was “fantastic”, stating that because of the help of the Hillsboro PTSO it was “better than she imagined it’d be.” She said that she arrived and thought to herself, “how did this happen? It was magical how everything was all set up and ready to go.”
Ms. Hyatt believes that the students being able to put their art out for people to see is the best part of the whole event! She mentions that it is great that students that are usually more reserved and don’t speak out about their work were much more vocal, joyful, and appreciative. She and Ms. Jones are proud that the students were excited to show off their work.
The 2023 Arts Showcase is another example of what it means to be a Burro. “It’s not a ME thing. It’s a WE thing” stated Mrs. Hyatt.
