This annual event is held every year brings the Nashville community and all its varying different cultural backgrounds and ethnic groups together enjoy literary standard that has stood the test of time. The  Mission of the Nashville Shakespeare Festival seeks to “enrich and unify our community with bold, innovative and relevant productions along with empowering, participatory educational programs setting the community standard of excellence in educational outreach and performances of Shakespeare’s plays.”

Clara Ray, a regular visitor of the festival stated that the work of the organization is  “Amazing! I come here every year with my husband and kids.” Clara Ray isn’t the only one who comes out and support 10,000- 15,000 other Nashvillians also come out annually to come and support since 1988.

It has become such a tradition that there are other attractions that are available with the production of the play itself.

For example, special guests will come to discuss the plays prior to the opening of the performance. Also, Nashville has a huge variety of food trucks, and these open at 6:00 pm. So,  come and enjoy a great preshow entertainment, the full play production, food trucks, and activities.

As part of the education outreach programs that are integral to the Nashville Shakespeare Festival, the organization provides Guidebooks for audiences, teachers and patrons that help  those who want to know more about the play before they go. These guidebooks are a tremendous resource for anyone attending Shakespeare in the Park.
