The Hillsboro High School Girls Wrestling Team delivered a strong performance at the TSSAA Region 6 Regional Tournament on February 3, 2026, at Page High School in Franklin, Tennessee. Four dedicated athletes represented the Burros with resilience, grit, and pride, overcoming physical challenges to earn valuable points and podium finishes that advanced the program’s momentum toward the state championships.
Head Coach Mikeal Trump, supported by assistant coaches Ed Miller, Clay Ward, and Sarah Plumb, guided the team through a demanding season marked by injuries and adversity. “This team fought through physical setbacks and never backed down,” said Coach Trump. “To see them push through injuries and still stand on the podium speaks volumes about their preparation, grit, and commitment to one another.”
Senior Team Captain Naomi Bryant echoed the sentiment: “We all left it all out on the mat, and all of our hard work paid off, which was amazing to see.”
The Hillsboro wrestlers who competed included:
- Naomi Bryant (Senior, Team Captain) – 120 lbs.
- Adelaide Smith (Senior, Team Captain) – 152 lbs.
- Lizbeth Mejia-Chicas – 185 lbs.
- Skylar Taylor – 235 lbs.
Special recognition goes to the program’s graduating seniors, Naomi Bryant and Adelaide Smith. As team captains, their leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in building the Hillsboro wrestling culture and inspiring younger athletes.

The Hillsboro High School wrestling program continues its proud tradition of developing well-rounded student-athletes who excel both on the mat and in the classroom. Under Coach Trump’s direction and with the support of his assistant coaching staff, the team upholds core values of hard work, discipline, and sportsmanship.
With strong regional showings, qualifying wrestlers positioned themselves for advancement to the sectionals and the TSSAA Girls State Championships held February 20–21, 2026, at the Williamson County Ag Exposition Arena in Franklin.
