Carlton Boleyjack

The Hillsboro Globe would like to welcome Carlton Boleyjack to the Academy of International Business Communications at Hillsboro High School for the 2021-2022 school year. Mr. Boleyjack teaches Chemistry and has been a teacher since 2005.

Before Mr. Boleyjack became a teacher he had an even harder job as a substitute/interim  teacher filling in for teachers who were on long term leave like for surgery or maternity leave. It was during these years that Mr. Boleyjack came to understand the impact teaching could make on another person’s outlook on life.

When asked to explain further about the transition from interim teacher to full-time educator, Mr. Boleyjack stated, “I had realized the fact that it is the best use of my time right now. I believe that I have a gift for being able to teach science and math and also to go to inspire people.

“I enjoy seeing young people grow and being a good influence on them. I try to be firm and understanding, but I also have to be able to prepare people for real life, but also kind enough to understand where they are and help them to get
closer to where they want to be.”

One of the best feeling,s Mr. Boleyjack explains, is the feeling after many years of teaching a student, you see that student doing really well in the community. “That tells me that the student has learned something meaningful.” It is clear that Carlton Boleyjack not only has a strong passion for teaching, but also wants to see those who he teaches to succeed.

Mr. Boleyjack is one of those rare teachers who not only grew in Nashville, but also went to a Nashville Metro school and has returned to MNPS to continue his career. He graduated as a National Achievement Scholar fromHume- Fogg High School. He was a founding member of the Show choir, and co-captain of the track team.

Following graduation from high school, he attended Tennessee State University and majored in Chemistry Education. He is currently completing an MBA degree from Trevecca University. He began his teaching career even before he finished college as a long term sub for a chemistry teacher at Ravenwood High. He has also taught chemistry at Whites Creek High School in 2008-2009.

He is clearly happy and very passionate about his role as a science educator. We look forward to reaping the rewards of his passion as a student.
