Hillsboro High School closes out the 2018 Baseball Season

At Hillsboro High School we have a very talented baseball team. Our head coach is Andrew Bello and we currently lost our assistant coach Kevin Meadows. Bello stated that ” Meadows will be a huge losss to the school and program. He will be very well missed.” As of right now we are not sure about another assistant coach, In Bello’s word, ” I hope so! With budget cuts that might not be happening it will be hard to find another baseball coach. Coach Carlos Holder has stepped up and is helping out this year.”

Baseball is a bat and a ball game played between two opposing teams who take turns batting and fielding. The objective is for the offensive team to hit the ball into the field of play and run the bases.

The objective for the defensive team is to prevent batters from becoming runners and prevent runners from advancing around the bases. A run is scored when a runner legally advances around the bases in order and touches the home plate.

The team who scores the most runs at the end of the game wins. On defense there are 9 total players :  3 outfielders, 3 basemen, a shortstop, a pitcher, and a catcher. On offense there’s only one batter at a time. Baseball has been a popular sport since 1893.

The Baseball closed out its season Monday, losing to HIllwood in the District 12 AAA tournament.
