It is time to buy your tickets for Hillsboro High Schools first performance of the year and with that purchase you will unleash your imagination, your inner child will take flight as you head out into the world on “an awfully big adventure” to Neverland with Peter, Wendy, and a gender-bent Captain Hook, in the Hillsboro Player’s modern retelling of this classic tale of not growing up.
The production, based on Joahn Caird and Trevor Nunn’s re-envisionment of a classic novel sweeps aside the traditional Edwardian costumed actors of the 1970’s in favor of a newer, hipper version that’s starker and contemporary to the second decade of the 2000’s.
The Hillsboro Player’s version of Peter Pan will incorporate these modern aesthetics under the co-direction of Kristin Moon who will also appear in the role as the Storyteller.
With movement direction inspired by the devising techniques of UK-based Frantic Assembly, this production of magic, mischief and make-believe will also feature life-size animal puppets that will keep audiences riveted from beginning to end.
