Ranked top independent high school football powerhouses, #1 Baylor and #2 McCallie, square off in a highly anticipated showdown that could shape the state rankings and postseason matchups. McCallie enters the matchup riding high after a statement win over nationally ranked Mission Viejo, but Baylor’s dominant 45–18 victory over MBA last week — led by 4-star junior running back David Gabreal Georges — makes them the team to beat.
(#1) Baylor vs (#2) McCallie
This is the Tennessee matchup of the week, with the two best teams in the state going at it. McCallie is a top team especially after they beat #27 nationally ranked Mission Viejo. McCallie has shown their dominance against top teams, but it just won’t be enough to beat Baylor. Last Friday Baylor beat MBA badly 45-18. Baylor is led by 4-star junior running back David Gabreal Georges who has offers from Ohio State, Tennessee, and Georgia. Baylor will win against McCallie this week.
(#13) CPA vs (#17) MBA
This matchup has two of the strongest Tennessee teams right now. Although CPA is 1-5 this does not reflect on how good of a team they have. MBA is 4-1 with some strong wins on the season. One player that massively impacts the game is wide receiver Sr. Owen Cabell who averages 86 yards per game and has 7 touchdowns this year. CPA will take the victory over MBA this week.
(#12) Knoxville Catholic vs (#10) Ensworth
Although Knoxville Catholic has a better record than Ensworth, Ensworth will win this week. Ensworth just had a bad loss to Brentwood Academy with the score being 37-7. I think Ensworth will bounce back this week because we know they have the talent to beat top teams like McCallie with the score being 20-10. One player that really stands out for Ensworth is Minnesota commit Justin Hopkins.
