National Day News- Tooth Fairy Day!

When a child loses a tooth, they know the excitement that it brings… the Tooth Fairy! The Tooth Fairy is supposed to inspire and motivate children to keep good dental hygiene and in return, get a special surprise under their pillow!

Originally, this “tradition” dates back to the mid-1920s, when fairies were used for all sort of hygiene inspiration. From bath fairies to food fairies, there were many ways that encouraged kids to stay healthy.

For decades, the Tooth Fairy tradition happens when a child loses a tooth. From there, when they go to bed, they place their tooth under their pillow, in hopes the fairy will take their tooth and replace it with money. When children wake up, they immediately look under their pillow to find money, whether that be 1 dollar or maybe even 5!

This tradition is a fun way to celebrate young kids’ accomplishment: losing a tooth!
