Today is Monday, February 13, which also means today is Galentine’s day, so no boys allowed! On this day, all the girls come together, get dressed up, and go to brunch or throw a Galentine’s party.

So where did Galentine’s Day even come from? Is it even considered a real “holiday”? Interestingly, this “fake holiday” was founded by the fictional character, Leslie Knope, in the show, Parks and Recreation. In season two, episode 16, Knope states, “Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it, breakfast style… Ladies celebrating ladies.”

Since this was said by Leslie, Galentine’s Day is celebrated by many women in present day! Even companies run advertisements for Galentines’ Day. So, today is the day to gather your girlfriends and go out to eat, laugh, and make memories!
