National Day News- National Chili Day!
Happy Chili Day! With chili being one of America’s most popular winter dishes, this food has been a favorite for decades. Chili is also known as chili con carne, which means “chili with meat”.
What is it made up of? This food is made up of chili peppers, tomatoes, beans, garlic, meat, onions, and cumin. However, many people add their own twist to the recipe. Chili cook-off competitions are pretty popular, so people need to be creative to make the best chili and not just what the recipe calls for.
Chili is more than just delicious. What truly made this meal become popular was in 1893, when the San Antonio Chili Stand inspired people around the U.S. to try it. San Antonio was a popular tourist destination at the time, so this helped chili become appreciated throughout the West and South. Since 1997, this meal has become the official staple on dinner tables in Texas.
If you like chili, eat some today!
