COVID 19 leads Metro Nashville Public Schools to start Spring Break 2 days early

NASHVILLE – Wednesday evening, metro Nashville Public Schools Executive Director, Dr. Adrienne Battle, announced that all MNPS schools will close on Thursday and Friday out of growing concern regarding the spreading virus Covid 19.

In a media alert, Dr. Battle stated, “In consultation with the Metro Public Health Department, all schools will be closed Thursday, March 12, and Friday, March 13, ahead of next week’s scheduled Spring Break out of an abundance of caution to protect against the spread of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus.”

The District offices and Central Office 12-month employees are asked to report to work unless notified differently.

Metro Schools wants to stress there have been no identified students or staff who have tested positive for Covid 19 as of Wednesday evening. “Closing for the final two days before spring break will give us time to work with the Health Department to assess this evolving situation.”
