Hillsboro Wrestling picks up two district wins on 2019 Senior Night

On Thursday, January 10th, 2019 at the Hillsboro Wrestling room in what will be the last senior night held in this venue they celebrated senior night. In what will be a huge night for these seniors their head coach Trump commented on this years class stating, “This is by far one of the greatest senior classes this school has had here in years and they never complained despite going through 3 head coaches and never mouthed off or stopped giving it their all.” In this match Hillsboro defeated both Hillwood and McGavock in a tri match.

He continued when asked about his 3 senior captains Darian Williams(145), Mohamed Mohamed(126), and Charles Cromwell(160) he stated,” They have set the bar high for the younger kids and never complained and overall been great examples for the entire team.”

Hillsboro’s seniors include Darian Williams(145), Mohamed Mohamed(126), Charles Cromwell(160), Jaden Halliburton(160), Kaleb Dudley(160), Chance Williams(220), and last but not least Clayton Ward(285)

Hillsboro had to face both Mcgavock and Hillwood High in this match. The night started off strong early with the seniors being introduced to the entire room with cheers of applause. Then the match kicked off with each of the seniors winning and against Mcgavock and following that up with a stellar performance against Hillwood.

Hillsboro had 3 seniors with pins in the first match against Mcgavock in what was a thorough domination of them with their friends and families in the crowd watching on and cheering in what was a emotional night for some.

With Hillsboro’s 3 most likely state qualifing seniors Mohamed Mohamed, Darian Williams, and Chance Williams all with pins that helped maintain firm grip of their places in terms of qualifing for state as they must first battle thru regionals before state.

They also had 1 senior (Cromwell 160) with a Major which is defined in wrestling as having 15 match points as well as being up by 8 or more points. In a match against McGavock.

All though they weren’t the only ones on the team it certainly was their night for these seniors as they are ready to head out and finish the season strong after tonights outing. After a long night with so many emotions going through both these seniors and their families as well as teachers and coaches they certainly showed out for it and lived up to the night

Hillsboro’s next match is MTWOA Grand Championships on January 19th followed by Regionals on February 8th-9th as the season is approaching its end.
