National Day News- Minnesota Day
Today on Wednesday, March 1, we celebrate the U.S. state, Minnesota, or also known as the “Land of 10,000 Lakes!”
Minnesota is the 32 state in the U.S., and joined the union in 1858 on May 11. So why is this state’s nickname, the “Land of 10,000 Lakes?” Well, Minnesota has exactly 11,842 lakes! These waters formed as glaciers slowly diminished during the last ice age. Around 9,000 to 15,000 years ago, glaciers started to retreat and proceed over the landscape, which caused the formation of holes and left ice chunks behind, which left the “great lakes”.
Minnesota is a beautiful place to adventure and travel. Here are some breathtaking places to visit if you ever decide to travel to this state!
- Cascade River State Park
- Great River Bluffs State Park
