Summer Opportunities: Hillsboro

Hillsboro has provided its students several incredible programs to get yourself ahead over the summer. Check out if interested! They include the following:

 

-Free summer residential programs for juniors and seniors at UTC.

Dates:

ACAP: June 12-15

“The Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP) is a free, multi-day summer program for minority/under-represented high school students interested in accounting, finance, and business. It is provided free of charge to all participants. The program is open to high school student who will be juniors or seniors in fall 2022 and who are minority/under-represented students (i.e., American Indian/Alaska Native, African American/Black, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, Asian, Hispanic/Latino) and who are academically talented with a minimum GPA of 2.85.”

BEA: June 20-24

“The 2022 Business Empowerment Academy (BEA) is a five-day residential summer program and is open to high school students who will be juniors or seniors in the fall of 2022 with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and who will be first-generation college students, are on free or reduced lunch, or are under-represented students (i.e., American Indian/Alaskan Native, African American/Black, Asian, Hispanic/Latino, or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander).”

-Engineering camp at TSU.

 

The programs are 2 weeks long one in June for rising 11th and 12th graders, and one in July for rising 9th and 10th graders.

  • In-Person Non-Residential Camp
    • Rising 9th-10th graders only
    • July 18th-July 29th ,2022
    • 9 am-4 pm, Monday-Friday at Tennessee State University Main Campus
    • Cost Per Participant: $40
    • Application Deadline June 17th, 2022

Project Pipeline free summer camp

Dates: July 14-16, 9am- 3pm

6th through 12th grade

-Summer school.

Dates: June 2- 30

IN PERSON OPTIONS
Where: Antioch, Glencliff, Hillwood, McGavock, Overton, Pearl-Cohn, Stratford, Whites Creek
Time: 7:00am – 11:00am
Breakfast and lunch are provided, Transportation provided if students register before April 27th
Deadline to register if students need transportation: APRIL 27th. Students who need transportation must register by April 27th.Students can still register after April 27th, but they will need to provide their own transportation, or they will need to sign up for the virtual option.

VIRTUAL OPTIONS

Where: Antioch, Glencliff, Hillwood, McGavock, Overton, Pearl-Cohn, Stratford, Whites Creek, Cane Ridge, East, HILLSBORO, Hunters Lane, Maplewood
Dates: June 2nd – 30th
Time: Each school site will have specific hours for virtual instruction (to be determined).
Deadline to register: End of the school year.

-Summer library book check out.

“We will have goody bags starting next week for students who check out 20 books for the summer and register for Summer Reading! All you need to do is tell us you want to have Summer Check-out and we will extend the due dates till August when we return!”
